We have 2 SDK threads for just this type of request. http://polycount.com/discussion/70908/sdk-master-thread/p1 http://polycount.com/discussion/138341/the-great-3d-game-art-giveaway-thread/p1 Question for the mods, any chance of those threads getting merged in the future?
cool idea dude! was working on the exact thing, but didn't finished it (see image below). may I suggest you to possibly post it here? in case someone else would like to use it in the future: http://polycount.com/discussion/138341/the-great-3d-game-art-giveaway-thread#latest
Check the Polycount Wiki, game art giveaway, and actually asking artists politely for their portfolio assets for learning purposes isn't out o the question if you need to find render targets to study from. Also just incase, read into the following: Physically Based Rendering Substance Painter and Designer Quixel
its funny reading all the people who took the video seriously's comments. people are f'ing stupid you think that the comparison of the melting ice, and the metal would be a dead giveaway that it wasn't serious, but people still try to refute all of the videos arguments. you could get a good laugh out of the comments alone!
Yeah its hard to find accurate info on this panel. TFT is a generic word for flatscreen LCD. By all accounts it's a TN panel though, pretty much all other 4K IPS panels are either very expensive or limited to 30hz. This one does 60hz and even higher which is a dead giveaway for a TN panel.
Already posted this in the Giveaway thread, but figured I'd post it here for added visibility: Restrictions: Don't make money off it. Don't put it in your portfolio. Want to use it for a free game, demo, animation reel, etc.? Whatever! Go ahead as long as you don't claim it's yours and you aren't making money from it.
I dont really know if edge flow would be called a dead giveaway. A lot of models I've seen have near identical edge flow with mine. Its just natural. Hell, I used to copy the edge flow of something I'd see posted online from someone else, but I'd hardly call that plagiarism.
Just so you know, your last reference is Japanese, not Chinese. The torii is really a dead giveaway since those are basically exclusive to Japan but stone garden lanterns like that are also extremely rare in China, that one in particular is called a Kasuga doro and I am not an architectural historian but my assumption is…
If artstation is supposed to be blocked they're not doing a very good job. There are plenty of people from china on artstation. You can tell because they'll usually have a QQ.com email address and a weibo link. And of course some just have job titles like "art director at ubisoft shanghai..." The dead giveaway is when…
12/12. Some stuff like polish on woodgrain is a bitch to get in CG - especially if you can see grooves where the wood's been turned on a lathe. I looked for irregularly placed repeats, like the bears eyes. It's too tempting in CG to copy/paste exactly. 'Xtreem' (tm) use of DOF or AO is another dead giveaway.
