xGen iteself isnt ineffective. Its the implementation Autodesk did. And on top Disney gave them only the half solution. The ptex painter is missing. -

All modeling/texturing was done in Autodesk Maya and post was done in GIMP. I don't know if this is portfolio quality or not and I'd appreciate feedback. -

A DLL is a file. You can find your maya directory (c:/program files/autodesk/maya) and search for the filename. -

Renaming the "3dsmax.ini" in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2010 - 64bit\enu" solved the problem somehow :) -

I honestly wouldn't use any of autodesks viewports for previewing content outside of the actual modeling stages. They're horrible. -

zbrush is alraedy pretty cheap for what it does, it is far more cost effective than mudbox or any autodesk product. -
