While this may work for a few cases of ambient occlusion, this idea falls apart as soon as you have directional lighting. Since the lights might be casting directional shadows and illuminating surfaces in only one direction, as soon as you overlap or stack any UVs, your lightmap will most likely become incorrect.
Here's an update on the character! Going slow at the moment. Been doing other stuff :p Will probably make the face look a bit more like it did before. In a way hehe. Will also start on the gun soon! The face is also skewed a bit right now. tsk tsk ;< More updates soon!
Keep the feedback coming! We're monitoring this thread. :) @gnoop 1. 4m scans are coming soon! 2. So long as you're creating work as an indie artist or studio, you won't need a full studio license. 4. You can soon! We're adding custom material support ASAP!

@goekbenjamin Great, thanks for letting me know! I'll investigate on that. Soon I'll release the updated version with all the UV related problems fixed. I can't do it right now because I have a lot to deal with those days. But it's going to be out as soon as I sort everything out. Cheers! :)
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I've got a bunch stuff done for UE4 from my current job that should be coming off of NDA soon (though I'm not sure precisely how long soon will be...), but I'll also definitely start working on a couple props where I really focus on texture quality.
