really been wanting to do a vietnam scene, its a m110 howitzer firebase idea..

also i know the artillery piece is a ways from the viewer and it doesnt have to be that detailed, i wanted to make a detail one as a piece by itself.

Liking the layout very much and the tank looks pretty cool.

Few ideas : throw in a camouflaged net over the bunker (those sticks look about the right height to support one) and one or two mounted machineguns around the opening:D
This could make way for other small stuff like a radio in the back and some of those hanging gas lamps if you decide to do a night scene.

nice snazzy howitzer, It hard to make out the shape in the back of the reference, but you've nailed the main details. Whats the poly count on that, and the count on the tracks alone? And for the environment are you going to add a jungle background? and can you answer this question, M.A.S.H. the movie was based in Korea right, was the TV show based in vietnam? Its got me confused.

mash is korea, but its themes were more from the vietnam, for enviroment iwas going to do mountains, since firebases were on mountains and hills. also right now the poly count is really high just getting it modeled,i will go back and optimize it later,

GCMP: I was thinking the same thing, going to put in camo, and weapons, was just laying it out for now

also im working with xsi 7.5, and im going to take these into zbrush also , maybe or do the normal maps in photoshop

the eyes look great but the lines around the bottom and sides of the nose look really bad, they should follow the edge flow, so basically they need to curve the opposite way.

the Gnomon Workshop hard surface texturing dvd would go good with that tank, i have it and it is very informative on hard texturing

I dont know if its just me dude, but those boots looke waaaay too small, and the leg might be disproportionate also.

i think i need to make the boot larger but its in pieces and its a bitch to resize it when its appened to the other subtools, if it was its own ztool, i could use transpose but now i have to resize it and re import the peices i have and im dreading it

The forearm feels really flat, in this pose I believe the radius crosses over the Ulna and the ridge muscle which wraps around with it (correct me if I am wrong) I would take a look a the Bridgeman and Goldfinger books for reverence, they are awesome!

I don't know how much you've got in terms of Vietnam era reference pics, but I came across a supplier that has a lot of useful information for categorizing Army/Marine kit from all the different Vietnam tour periods, take a look if you're looking for how to detail flak jackets and other little details:

nah that legs ok but the boots cold be a tad bigger? then again i asked my dad who use to serve in the SAS n he said most american troop he met had small feet for some reason so i guess its fine

. i love the basic super manly styled face you have gone for perfect for the scene.
and on ur Howitzer there is an extra extrusion on the barrel just before the hydrolics.

um apart from that look sweet!

thanks for the crits you guys, yeah the boots are a tad small but i think im going to redo them, I have tons of reference but everything helps, thanks for the Site., yeah the body is still WIP, i have gone back over the forearms and such, after retopoing the torso
