I wanted to make the chain/restraints out of some godly light or something, but I'm going to experiment with melting chains for now, maybe later on I can test with some alpha and see if the holy godly light chains will work.

the heads great mate, im not sure about the arms though, still a bit too humanoid inproportion. Maybe stretch the shoulders out a little more.

great work so far -- real solid stuff!

i love the shackles on the massive arms. have you considered maybe extending some chain behind the figure or up onto the metal parts that jet out to the sides? It would be cool to see one or two of this guy's hands still crucified and bound.

Thanks guys. I think I might try something with the shoulders as you suggested knucklebear. R4pture, I agree wholeheartedly, I'd like to have him still semi-chained. When I get down to nailing those, I'll probably refine the overall feeling a bit.

I like the idea that this creature is floating it looks from your kick ass concept. Really cool concept.

I also like him chained up, perhaps more. Like using elements from old school back/neck/spine/leg braces. There kind of creepy in design.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I've attached the final version to the top. I plan on doing more with the chains, but the concept is fully developed in my mind and painting it in would make no difference. I think I'm ready to hit the modeling step.

Looks wicked, I like how his featurelessness makes him looks jaded. I kind of imagine him walking around with a giant staff and his head bowed. You're still using the shackles from the grayscale sketch? Those were a nice touch...

Maybe add some kind of organization to the glow on his chest? I don't know if you want to go the glowing tattoos route, but it's evenly intense all throughout and kind of distracting.

Hi Guys, thanks for the kind words, and help in making my mind up about version #2.

Woogity: The long thing coming from the back is actually a cross when looked at from the top, additionally, it's setup so if the weight on the end is pulled downward, massive pain is delivered to the creature. I'm going with the story that Satan himself imprisoned this guy, so he'd like to torture him from time to time as well.

Rooster: I put some of the images back, you're right, it is fun to see progress.

My presentation skills are pretty lacking, I'm mostly concentrated on working on the model, and I often forget that taking time to make decent renders and post good shots of progress is part of the contest, and generally fun for everyone. anyway, here is a quick shot of the ZB basemesh.
