Better start my thread. Not sure whether to go the whole 7k yet or not. I did a glock a few months back, that only took around 1.5k. Any suggestions? I know one thing though, I'm going to make an existing gun though.

Should have started this earlier. I'm roughly ten hours in and have to go to a BBQ tommorrow. That means lots of meat and beer. Not even finished the high poly yet. Best stay up as I'm not getting anything done tommorrow I'm guessing.

Finally got some time to start this now. Spent yesterday doing this. Wanted to get the high poly done, but it didn't happen. Looks about 60% to me. Will try and get everything done by deadline. Not sure this will happen as I need to learn that world space mapping thing. Good thing EQ has posted that tut.

Anyway, here goes...

Modeling this one but decided to make some alterations on the handle. Image below looks but and is same gun.

It's a bit quiet here isn't it? Nevermind. Anyway, I didn't make the dead line, too much drinking. I'm such a dumb arse. The high poly model has been taking be longer than I thought it would. About 30 hours in and it's finally looking about 90% finished. I don't think I'll struggle too much with the low poly, but hope the advice I have been getting over the normal thread will pay off. Infact I'm sure it will. This forum seems to know what it's doing, I mean really hardcore type.

Bit of dual welding action. Did this because the right side of the gun holds most of the detail.

With the slide handle holster thing shut. I think it adds another dimension.... But maybe it's just me.

Anyway, people still seem to be submitting their work. I reckon I can get this done by Thursday. Hopefully I can sneak it into the final post thread without anyone minding too much.

Nope deadline is up, johny got away with it because he posted his final images in his own tread before the deadline was up, but at the time jesse hadn't posted the final image thread.

Ok, calling the high poly finished. Will make low poly later. Hope you like and any crits would be more than welcome.

This is probably the second gun that I have modelled properly. A bit better that the glock eh? I thought that was brilliant when I first made it. How wrong could I be.

Nice, this is a really mean looking weapon. Well done on the tiny details!!
I know the Glock was just a test, but make sure you put some nice wear and tear into the texture for this one.

Cheers Jessi and splash. Yeah, after seeing EQ's gun, I was blown away. Want a nice a worn feel to it. Exactly the opposite of the glock.

Hi, I finally got around to finishing this. Been doing it on and off. I changed the specs a bit as the comps long done and dusted but wanted to let everyone have a gander

I must say that this challenge was pretty tough and a great learning experience. Hats of to all you guys that finished it on time and to the correct specs. Better late than never eh? Special thanks to Earthquake, you helped me loads and for all the ref materials you posted up.

great to see you finished it! I never got mine finished but learnt loads along the way made the low poly and everything it was just uv mapping it that stopped me in my tracks I didnt model in such a way that uv mapping would be easy

Ged: Tell me about it, I didn't pay any attention to the low poly model, by the time I finished the high poly, I thought, shit. Now I have to kill 500k. It took me 2 days to bang out the low poly model. Unwrapping was a nightmare too, I modelled everything separately and in hindsight, I probably didn't have too. Texturing sucked too as I was just looking at a black screen. But I'd did learn a lot from this challenge.

Amazing work. What I noticed though when you said "the right side of the gun holds most of the detail." is that when FPSs are concerned the gun is usually defaultly set to the right hand, where you'll see the left side of the gun more often than the right. Although having said that you did say it quite a while ago, and the left side does look very detailed.
