More warhammer practice

i figured i'd get my hands dirty too with some warhammer concepts.
here is the one i'm going to use:

and this is what i've got so far.

going to do a high to low poly.
looking for help and pointers!
for example the chains - what is the best way to approach making them in the hi/low process?

The way I would approach the chain would be to build the links in HP and transfer the normals to a flat plane of geometry and use an alpha. Do you p[lan on bringing it into the Unreal engine? If you want it double sided then I would thicken it a bit with a shell modifier. Considering those chains may not be seen to well I tihnk you can get away with a plane and the normals giving the alpha a bit of depth.

finished the high poly:

tried to sculpt the wings part but it looked like poo so i model instead.
rendered from process discribed by X-Convict, still need some tweaks to make it not so blown out.

Nice one BreakNeck. It all looks good to me except those iron crosses in the front look a little weird. It would be cool if you modeled more of the detail in your concept as well (other crosses and such) Keep at it!

Brad: yea your right, those crosses don't really look like crosses. those flame things on the side, i 'm working on a high poly for those as well - which i will alpha.

wow! I cant believe your at the same school I went to and are cranking out pieces like this. I dont think Ive ever seen anything come out of the AI with this level of detail and quality. Good job man, your improving QUICK keep it up!

looking good break neck,one small suggestion from me will be to bevel the edges,instaed of keeping them razor sharp all around the model.

Thanks Nate, yea - they don't teach this stuff at school very much, learned mostly on my own and here at polycount.
vj: what edges are you looking at? all of them in general or specific ones?

so, i finally "finished" this piece. still trying to figure out making this thing good in unreal - for example, my normal map isn't as strong as i would like. please, any comments or crits about it would be great.
