Oh my, I wake up this morning to the sound of laughter, as my 2 roommates were playing the beta of Little Big Planet, it is SO fun.

We'll be making some levels tonight, but if there are any polycounters out there who will be making their own levels, post your name so we can find them and play together.

I'll see if I can get some images up later

yeah I got in last night, just got done playing for 3 hours today as well. it's amazing, and the amount of stuff you can do with the editor is unbelievable. even if they add simple things via DLC like more objects or more depth to the editor it will add countless more combinations.

I'm just getting used to it myself but whoa is it deep

My roommate actually stumbled on a random site, and supposedly he had to write a 5 word sentence saying why he wanted in... or something like that, shortly after the guy e-mailed him back saying he got one of the keys... and the rest, is history

I got the beta last night too, its pretty awesome, havent dabbled in the editor too much but what I have tries was rather awesome. single player seems really fun too......Oh god too many good games coming out this month....

I do not want to play a beat...This game is going to be so much fun I am waiting until launch day.

i keep hearing stuff about the 'editor' though and not much about the game play... Lets hope the gameplay is fun too, was hoping to pick this up and get my wife to play some co-op. Maybe it'll just be me making up levels though.

most games have already been delivered to stores. Best Buy has a few hundred copies each in the back.

The aren't patching it because they must TOTALLY ELIMINATE THE EVIL from the game.

There seem to be a lot of rules in Islam on how aspects of the religion can be used in other media. You'll remember the huge clusterfuck that surrounded the cartoons depicting Mohammed in a Dutch newspaper cartoon. Depicting animals and humans in art is also frowned upon. I don't know anything about reusing lines from holy scriptures, but it doesn't really surprise me that people are concerned about them being used in a video game context.

Sony are in the position of "Damned if they do, damned if they don't"

They could either have released it knowing that there was an issue, and caused outrage, or they could keep it back to remedy the issue, and caused outrage.

As for patching, you'd need a net connection for every copy of the game and that's not guaranteed. I even know a few folk in the games industry who don't have their consoles networked.

Yeh ofcourse its nice thats the reason it was in the game. not to start this load of cr*p. the comics are Danish. When I lived in Dubai and that happened they boycotted all danish products for some time and the UAE is supposed to be the most western friendly muslim country. There are still countless of people mad who wants to blow denmark, with Israel and the united states of the face of the earth.

it's so weird. I went from wanting this SO bad to really no desire to own it, and I'm not 100% why.

I mean, I have it paid off. like, completely paid off, waiting for me at the store.

It could be the other games I have, the other ones coming out that I plan on picking up, I'm not sure, but it's weird. I have Fable 2, Castlevania (fantastic btw), and Fallout 3 waiting for me at home, not to mention tons of games that I've barely touched and some gamefly games coming in as well (dokapon kingdom and dead space). and theres like 6 more within the month I plan on getting.

I'm just confused how I went from NEED LBP to 'eh whatev'.

hm just wanted to get that out I guess hah.
still very interested to see what people come up with though, make sure you guys take note of your favorite levels so I know what to play when I get it!

I found out that it's PSN lag, I have to disconnect from the internet because LBP is always checking even when you're playing singleplayer. Today at lunch the LBP servers were down.

will there be a demo version of this?
so far what i've seen in lots of videos of this is that it looks very cute. controls seem a bit floaty at times and i still wonder where the challenge in playing this game will be. seems more like a level editor to create with than a game to play. no enemies in the levels or anything like traps? most videos show players running through levels straight, collecting orbs.

there's enemies, pit traps, even a level where you have to run from a rampaging "skulldozer" that's destroying the whole level as you play. The game starts to get fairly tough around the 3rd chapter and there's alternate areas you can't even go to in levels without at least 2 people.

if you watch the video I posted above, the boss is a giant dragon that you can only injure by hitting it's weak spots with a magic sword.

I picked this up today! My mom is in town, and i made her play it. surprisingly, she picked it up, and was laughing hysterically. I honestly think she had more fun jumping and punching my little sack-man than actually running around and getting through the levels

So, question for those of you who have LBP... is it worth it for someone who has absolutely no interest in the user created content stuff. So much of the marketing and hype I've heard from the game is based around that stuff that it's got me wondering if there is any value to the actual game part for those of us who don't really care for the user created crap...

So yea, what do you guys think? Having troubles on deciding whether I should pick it up or not, and there's no fartin demo for me to find out on.

This game is the fucking shit... But not in a good way...

Seriously, it needed a LOT more time in dev. Whoever wrote the movement code alone needs to NEVER work on a game again. Its that bad...

But jesus, its obvious they wanted to get this out before christmas...

I took this back the day after buying it, it was such a joke... The main problem NOW seems to not be the REALLY bad game behind it all (it is, sue me), but the fact MM are fucking up the fun... FOR EVERYBODY... by removing everything half decent from the user made content...

In other words...

Avoid this game. Or at least try before you buy...

EDIT: THERE ARE GOOD PARTS TO THIS GAME. Just not enough to say this is the best game Sony could give us this year...

yeah, if you are expecting unreal tournament 2009, skip it. If you are digging rolling around with a few friends or even just playing a quick match with some strangers it's still pretty fun.

If you buy LBP expecting UT9 you really are destined to be letdown...

I was expecting a fun platformer. I got about a quater of that.

The best game I can compare it to is Mario Sunshine... Its heart is in the right place, but good god what were they smoking...

To answer Tulkamir's question: The levels that ship with the game are decent enough to play through and enjoy. And there's enough interesting player created levels to keep you busy. I'll agree it's not the greatest platfotmer, mechanics-wise.

The user generated angle is really the crux of the game. Every reward you get from the levels that come in the box are materials and stuff they want you to use to build your own levels, or modify others. If you're not into that, then those are empty rewards.

Am I the only one who doesn't like this game?

I think everything about it is totally awesome - the art style, the co-op, the creation abilities, the narrator, everything about it is absolutely perfectly polished and fantastic...except the gameplay.

I can't stand the physics-based platforming - I'd rather have something more old-school, where a jump doesn't take into account the exact angle of the ground you're on, etc. The controls seem floaty to me, I dislike the re-start ability because it doesn't reset anything in the level, just your position, so if you want to re-start because you missed jumping on a horse/skateboard/whatever rolling object a level has, you can't.

Having havok controlling everything allows for a lot of intuitive level creation, but I don't think it makes good platforming at all.
