Hello, I am working on a scene from the movie city of lost children for a portfolio piece. I am looking at a polycount of about 25k-30k. Since I just started I realise that its going to be difficult to critique what I have and I mostly created this thread to first learn how to do it and second if I have people commenting my work it will give me more motivation to keep working at it so I can post updates. Anyways here goes hehe

great subject matter, if you can get the lighting and color balance right it will look rad. make sure you make it beat up and crooked so it doesnt look too sterile. i noticed all four of the chairs in the ref were different but yours are all the same.

It looks very realistic. Can you show us some of the texture mapping you used? I love the shine on the roof and would like to know how you went about making it. Is it from a specular map?

I think the first image is a screencap from the movie and what he is aiming for as a goal.

Yeah the first image is a screen cap and yeah and I just built the one chair as a placeholder for the other chairs I do intend to change the other 3 to what it is in the actual scene. Yeah I will be changing it alot to create the little imperfections I just want to finish creating all the other assets and get them unwrapped before I start shifting thing around

One of my favorite films, I think it's a good choice too, because it involves of plethora of little cluttered knick-knack props to be done, which should look nice. Good luck with it.

haha wow been a long time since I updated I've been alot more busy than I would like with moving to a new place and new city anyways I have an increasing amount of props being put in everyday and I keep watching the movie over and over again trying to come up with new props to put in however alot of the item are very intricate for example alot of fishing nets make appearances but I am not sure how to go about making a pile of fishing net without it being very poly count heavy or texture size heavy. I am at around 30,000 polys right now but I am pretty sure there is alot of optimizing I can do to take that down I am just playing around with prop positioning right now. I realise the walls are quite boring and need to be some attention givin to them. OK so any Critiques are very welcome thanks
