Wooooooo! I am so happy to be announcing this with FredH....
Today marks the beginning of a new annual event for Game Artists.. or more precisely, Game Environment Artists!
From the creators of Dominance War comes a new event with a new twist. Unearthly Challenge will give game environment artists everywhere a grand competition to remember! Geared towards students, amateurs, professionals, and aspiring game artists, this event promises to let participants test theirs skills, get employed (if not already), learn new tricks and win some truly awesome prizes!! To make things even more enticing, many respected game companies from around the world will lend a hand during this competitions duration. How? Come back on the start date to find out more!

good to see some interest given to the enviro guys, I'm sure some awesome stuff will come up and wish the same success the domwar has.
My crate is going to kick ALL YOUR CRATE'S ASSES!
but it would be realy great to have 2 yearly challenges.. domwar and .. this.. i can´t spell it.. un-earth-hly chalange
also i´m not such a big fan of this twohundredthousand-forum-challenge like domwar 3.. it get´s bit unpersonal in my taste...
Hopefully this starts in the summer time, but who needs college anyways :P

I really like the fact that it is Game Artisans vs Polycount. The last Dom War didn't feel like a Dom War so much, just due to the immense scale.
This should be interesting nonetheless, and I'll consider giving it a go. Three man teams is ace as well!

Good to see the other 75% of the art the industry creates being represented.
Don't get me wrong, I love all the character completions but its not too much to ask for a little balance.
In the past 25% of the content gets 99% of the comps. Kind of wacky.

Should be a tough fight, seems Game Artisans has picked up alot of new recruits during DWIII.
Another question that has arisin, is about concept artists. If we work with a concept artist, is he considered part of the "3 person" team? Or is he considered an outside contractor?

Amen to this challenge. Maybe I'll actually get off of my ass and participate.
The whole Cryptic Environment team is pumped about this, we're forming groups now.
Our Art Director is stoked to have us (the company) sponsor the event, so you should see something from us in the near future.
edit: Ah crap 3 man teams? I don't know anyone else to work with, blah!
