Altair (PSP)

Hey guys,i saw how well Marin did Virgil,so here's my take on Altair I hope you guys enjoy him as well.I did get lower with the specs though,676 tris ,1 256x256 diffuse and 1 256x256 alpha.This is all 1 day of work,so im finishing him tomorrow. Tnx for watching.btw he should actually be half the size since its to be viewed on psp but i'll show him smaller in the next update.

Your work has been getting good lately. (I remember the kID :P)

There's something funny about his lips.. can we see a closer shot? Also, I think you should make the top-front corner of the hood pointier. I know the original design was supposed to suggest the silhouette of an eagle, and the hood tip is his beak. Just something to think about...

lol Slum,the kid is nearly 4 years old ehehe tnx btw,i'm happy to hear that.The lip looks funny cuz there's no filter maps,so depends on view,it may look distorted.I'll check him out about the hood,i never played the game so i dont know much about him..Thanks though

I'd love to know how you get stuff done so damn fast.
I have a hard time sitting down to draw for more than an hour anymore, and it's sort of self defeating when I do.

The bottom of his coat though, couldn't that theoretically do without the alpha? It looks like a pretty straight edge anyway, so it might look just as good if the model was just cut along those lines. Though it might up the count by a few triangles, it would probably save on potential blending and sorting issues. Just a thought.

Agree that the lips look a bit suspicious, texturewise. And something about the contrast on the arms is a bit jarring. Looks good otherwise.

well it took me nearly 1 hour to get the model done and uvmapped,then about 6 hours to paint the texture.I usualy start modelling and forget about anything else for 6-7 hours non stop lol

my only crit is that he only has one hidden blade. other than that, it's awesome!

Yeah, only one blade and it was a bit thinner. His face doesn't look very accurate, but that's forgivable since you wouldn't see it much anyways. Otherwise, it's pretty damn spot on and technically impressive to complete in less than a day.

Also on the blade hand (right hand was it?) he has middle finger cut off, pay attention to that, its one of his big characteristics.
And hes face looks little too long, maybe its cause you didnt paint him any eyes, in that cause you should pull the hood lower over his face.
But super nice effort overall.

looks great but i agree that the alpha is waster cleverly done you could save an entire texture channel and some polys too !

There is something a little funky going on with the upper lip, a closer render could show us more.

I think he's missing his ring fingers or maybe its his middle fingers? It has something to do with his blades and showing dedication to his brotherhood-peoples.

Edit: opps like toomas pointed out.. about the fingers.

tnx guys,i actually updated him alot today,i fixed the finger,finshed texturing what was untextured and also cleaned him up a bit,hope it looks better now

love what you did man , but i also agree that if you used the polies better you could avoid alpha altogether

really nice clean textures i would still throw in a bit more color into them subtely like some subtle purples in the leather and make the skin less paste like , love how you did the folds, awesome improvement over your last stuff man i would be proud

Brilliant low polly work. Shit if I start seeing graphics of this qulity on handhelds I might even be tempted to get a PSP.

alpha testing on handheld consoles such psp is expensive and you can save your texture in a smaller format using only rgb channels.
In this case it could be avoided also reducing the model polycount of a bunch of triangles :P

I logged in just to praise your work. I have been away from computers for the last few days and this is an awesome model+textures though I agree with johny. You could do it without alphas. Either way it's really good and it inspired me.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the poly count.
