photoshop pixilator program?

hey guys this may sound odd, its nothing really relating to anything, but im trying to take a speaker and make a GIF animation of it , and I did this a while ago, nothing special, but I was wondering what it would look like 8 bit style...So I was wondering, is there a program/plugin for photoshop that turns things pixilated? Its not any stress to it, I was just curious of anyone happened to know or hear of anything like this.

You can also just shrink it down to like 16x16 and then do another image size to blow it back up to normal size, but switch it from Bicubic to Nearest Neighbor.

I'm surprised he didn't think of that himself, Tumer! also, pixelation alone wont make something look '8-bit'. Some sort of palette-management is in order, but that'd take it beyond the 'quick fix' into 'you're better off doing it by hand', which I realise you're not planning on doing.

I shrink images down using Nearest Neighbor. Then in Imageready, I optimize the palette to fewer colors, 16 or less. Then a little touch up by hand, and start animating. Resizing alone won't give the best results.

Well ya, resizing won't palettize the colors, but it does get the blocky, pixelated look I think the OP was asking for.

play with Image / adjustments / posterize.. that seams to really knock it down to a limited color pallette, and makes it even more simple after resizing down then back up again using nearest neighbor.

From there you can do indexed colors, or play with contrast.

REally harsh,, but image/adjustments/ threshhold can get some cool results for the dark tones.
