'Cloverfield' - New JJ Abrams movie

So, we should have all seen this trailer before Transformers. It's J.J. Abram's new movie dubbed 'Cloverfield'.
I've spent the past couple hours reading up on it all, and there's just so much to take in already.
For us Lost fans, this seems to be right up our alley, at least all the mystery so far.
Giant monster movie? Godzilla? Voltron? Cthulhu?
What do you guys think?

The rumour mill suggests that this is going to a movie shot entirely on handycams like Blair Witch was, except with a high budget.
This is kinda funny cause I just picked up Dagon this weekend.

A google search for "lovecraft lied" shows some hits of enthusiastic debate in recent years over the legitimacy of the necronomicon, and speculation that Lovecraft was pressured by certain groups to lie by saying that he was merely inferring the existence of a fictional artifact for use as a storytelling prop. I guess some people will believe anything.
Either way, nice little psychological manipulation from Abrams; ORLY? well that creature certainly looks real! Grar! OMGWTF! etc.
Also if anyone hasnt seen The Descent, watch it! Not directly lovecraft but certainly has a great bleak mood to it and imo a film that best captures the feel of his story's.
But whatever the baddie is ... oh GAWD this looks cool. Reminds me of the Marvels point of view, but with more screaming.

It's just all speculation. There's a point in the trailer where someone is heard saying, 'It's a lion, it's huge!', but really, after slowing it down, he says, 'it's alive, it's huge!'.
A Voltron script was leaked a while back and the invasion described in the script fits very well with the trailer, though, it's really just a generic 'New York explosions' scene.
Plus, the lions wouldn't be attacking New York.
So it's just a rumor that goes nowhere.

It looks very inspired by Neill Blomkamp, only without as much charm and realism.
JJ Abrams said we've only found one of the websites for the movie so far.
hopefully the hype that this movie is getting is not going to be better than the film

That website is obviously connected to the film. JJ is only spreading dis-information to feed the hype machine by saying it's not.
Also the story is sounding more and more like the story from chrono trigger
poster for the movie. think i read that "Monstrous" is NOT the title of the film and was added by someone to this image.
looking less and less likey that the Ethan Haas stuff is related (though we might know in a couple days what that is).
also on the http://www.1-18-08.com/ site if you get the two party photos out from under the others and shake them they will flip over to show little postcard type messages.

Personally I'm mostly excited for this movie. Mostly, i say, because even though i love monster movies, i love the research that goes into stuff like that... The movie is said to be shot with digicams.. and that can get annoying.
Also, if you go to the slushi website they have for the movie, there's different animals who say random things in the comments section.
one of them is BLOOP. Bloop is actually the code name for a sound the government picked up in the middle of the ocean. They said the sound would have to have come from a beast way bigger than a Blue Whale, the largest animal known on the planet.
