You must not watch IFC or Sundance often. Abount 80% of the films they show end on down notes. On Valentines day all they showed were movies about love and how awful it really is.

Yeah, I have the special 3 dvd edition of Brazil, and the Version the producers wanted Gilliam to show is only 94 minutes long, and is called the "Love Conquers All" version.
The same thing happened with the movie "The Butterfly Effect", the theatrical ending was happy, while the directors ending was fairly depressing with a dash of disturbing.
I don't know, happy endings don't bother me too much in movies, sometimes it's nice to see a happy ending. Especially if the whole movie is fairly dreary. And I don't mean like comedic dreary like a Ben Stiller movie, but something more like Schindler's list.
I hate it when a movie has a woman character who is running through the jungle, getting shot at, she's bleeding all over the place, she has no shoes and her clothes are torn...
Agree with Luxury on product placement..it's SO painfully obvious these days, especially on any kind of contest/reality show
Scripted shows that look like reality shows...ie Laguna Beach.<BARF> What a horrible perversion of perception these things are.
Teenage drama...It all seemed so dramatic and important back then. Also in line with the teenage thing...movies or TV shows with "teenagers" that are actually like 25 or 30, and who say things that no teenager on earth would. Also under this category I would put any reality show that features teenagers, especially rich ones. That Super Sweet Sixteen show makes me want to set my head on fire.
Excessivly sad movies. I enjoy a gritty realistic drama, or tragic romance from time to time. But there is a line at which point it just becomes emotional pornography. Many "chic flicks" fall into this category. Also included are Requiem for a Dream, and Leaving Las Vegas...both of which can have their entire plot summed up in 3 words. Sometimes shit sucks. Cheer up emo/goth (shhhh...don't tell anyone...but they're the same thing) kid.
- The Hero and Bad Guy fighting a gun battle, then, when both of them have each other in their sights, or are at a point-blank standoff, their guns click empty.
- The Hero and Bag Guy or Strong Lackey both dropping their weapons in order to engage in a fist fight that always results in the Hero winning.
- The Hero thinks he has won, the bad guy is down, everybody is rejoicing, when all of a sudden the bad guy struggles to get off that last shot and either misses or gets shot because someone (usually the hero's love interest) points out the danger just in time.

When movies insist on not using their film score, and using Holst's Mars, from the Planets Suite. Despite my love for the Xmen2 movie... they did it there too.
The Golden Compass trailer uses it, and it sounded like Gladiator music at the end.
its a great piece, and its exposure is nice, but it seems like people just rip off its power and presenece.
Danny Elfman music gets reused alot too. One that comes to mind is that "childrens choir" singing a soft sad tune. Sounds very harry potteresque. It gets reused in many trailors. Its from one of the Tim burton movies.. Beatlejuice maybe. I dunno.
I totally hate the Bad guy comes to life at the end for one final strike. When will someone make a movie where when the villian is shot and wounded the hero runs up to him and pumps 100 rounds in the guys skull, then throws the body in a fire to be sure hes dead.
Actually, anyone see enemy at the gate? THAT was a very good moment at the end Hero VS. Villian. How it all ended. The way it should be done!
Another annoyance, Poeple in films don't have good peripheral vision. They never notice the thing standing right next to them about to strike.
I hate how everyone buys a loaf of french bread on TV and the movies, you can't go to the store without having a loaf of french bread sticking out of your grocery bags.
I'm tired of bad guys getting up after being knocked unconscious or dazed on the ground. If the hero knocks the main bad guy to the ground, the hero should then kill the person. Make sure he's dead instead of stumbling away and then getting surprised when the bad guy stands up again and nearly kills you again!
hollyoaks, home and away , neighbours , emmerdale farm, east enders etc. In fact any soap operas at all
they are so cliched in everything they do and say.
Characters that fall in love with each other despite not really talking to or knowing the other person for more than a few days (apparently, harrowing danger is a substitute for dating.)
Computer hacking in Movies, fake GUI's, everyone moves their mouse with perfect smoothness to exactly the right button, People guessing passwords. taptaptaptap "ok, we're in!"
