Modo vs. Maya - Can you help?

Hi everybody!
I'm quite new to the game developer business (intern) and a 3D game modeller in 3DS Max. My new job requires to learn either Maya or Modo.
Can somebody please give me an advice:
Is it more 'helpful' to break in luxology Modo 201 (which is very powerful) or is it better to my future career to stay with Maya (the Diva).
The Thing is, I never heard of an 3D video game artist who modelled with modo.
Do you know of any fancy future trend or something...?

I would say Maya. Modo use isn't widespread, and if you have to learn a specific program it may as well be one you'll likely someday work with.

yeah i personaly would prefer modo, but for job security maya or max would be the way to go. but you know.. heres a crazy idea.. learn both! i mean it would be pretty simple

So, Rhinokey. You say modo is really a better choice ... (in a crazy kind of world, where you don't have to follow your employer's instructions?)

I, too think about learning both. The workflow differs, yes! But low poly modelling is always the same, isn't ist?

Modo tends to be something most modelers choose on top of already knowing one of the main pipeline apps like maya, max, xsi. Learn Maya first, then decide if modo enhances your workflow and comfort level enough to justify adding it to your toolset. If not, then you still have one of the most widely used 3d applications under your belt and save a few bucks on top of that.

I think, it is indeed the best choice to learn first maya first or primarily. And play with modo additionally to keep in touch.

If you're doing *just* modeling, modo is your best bet, if you need animation, rigging, etc thats where you should look towards maya.
