Interesting, although near the end I have to believe that theres other information stored somewhere to give the amount of detail that it is.

Specifically on the fish, how'd it know to make them spherical?

a LOT of that seemed faked. As in it wouldnt really work without a lot of extra shit being done besides what we're seeing...

Notice the title is "Sketch-based modelling of parameterized objects" - that'll mean that they have an "Airplane" setting which looks for certain lines and patterns and builds a model accordingly ... I bet if they loaded up the Airplane setting and tried to draw a coffee mug, it'd end up looking really weird.

Still quite interesting though.

MoP: Yeah, thats what I said. The lines simply define the parameters of pre-created complex geometric primatives. Neat, but...sorta pointless at this stage.

Looks like CSI technology.

The thing made no sense, especially in the cup stage. For some handles he was drawing the inside and outside.. to define both definitions. Yet on the next one, he draws a single line to represent the handle. Wouldn't it be the same setting for both?

Edit: doubley the case with "paramatized objects"

Could be very useful, when you need lots of similar bacground props and stuff like that.
Traffic for example.

BTW dont be suprised when most 3d stuff will be procedural, i guess it will happen rather soon, as it is allready too costly to model assets by hand for your average game.

a student here works in his masterthesis on a similar program, that allows creation of "comic buildings" by sketching. it's meant for children.
