cloth rendering questions

I was exploring and I have noticed some cool stuff with cloth-like materials that people have been making lately. I think that 3dsmax6 has some tools like that, but I am not sure how to use them. like making some materials clothlike and draping over stuff and other materials leathery. not sure how to realy explain what I am trying to say. basically can anyone explain how to use these tools or at least point me to a good tutorial?

They're probably using the new Garment Maker and Cloth modifiers released to subscribers in Max 7.5, and then to everyone else in the release of Max 8 (which was like, 2 weeks ago now).
