A lot of you probably know that NIN released the source files to "The Hand That Feeds" on their website recently. Since someone was kind enough to supply a PC-format conversion for me, I could hardly miss the opportunity to mutilate it.

I was going to call it "pre-done" (i.e. structurally finished but awaiting a bit of polish) but unfortunately I lost the FLP file when my E: drive crashed, so I'm calling it done. Probably for the best, really -- otherwise I'd go on fiddling for weeks until I hate it and don't want to hear it anymore.

Side note: This will probably hit your subwoofer pretty good, so turn it down or up as your tastes dictate.

Other side note: I haven't actually heard the real song yet. I leave it to you to decide if that's a good or bad thing.

I remember hearing part of 'The Hand That Feeds' on the radio and remarking that "boy, that sounds like a shitty NIN ripoff." Imagine my chagrin when I discover that it was, in fact, NIN.

I much prefer samp's remix, by far!

cool, tho my only complaint is it feels like the song.. never starts, theres bits where it sounds like its starting.. but then it just kinda goes away to more random stuff, the quality of the mixing is fine and such, better than i could do, tho i may try if i get bored enough, Scan can you im me with the waveified versions?

wowzers, just went and listened to some of those on the NIN site.. man theres some boring remixes. and besides.. thats a pretty generic and noninteresting song to start with. hmm have not listened to much NIN since downward spiral, when did he start going sour?

Mojo: it didn't, if you ask me.
A lot of people thought 'The Fragile' was shit, because it wasn't very hard, but i thought that one was brilliant.
And then again, The Downward Spiral was apparantly "NIN's worst album" when it came out as well.
This song is just overly poppy, and most people can't stand that, but i got used to it, and now i quite like the song, poppy as it may be.

i still prefer the classics, i think terrible lie, and ringfinger amd down in it are his best stuff. tho i did like most the songs on the cd that came after that one.

Mojo: I tried to keep a reasonable facsimile of a coherent song structure. I suppose the garbleized vocal treatment masks that a bit.

Sini: Fair enough. You're the not the first person to complain about that and I can see why it would be annoying to some. I wanted to use Trent's vocals (since they are a large part of NIN's signature sound) but I didn't want to use his lyrics, which I found painfully cheesy. I'm a big fan of glitch techno so this seemed like a good solution.

Very impressive stuff. I like the way you chopped up the vocals. Maybe because I've heard the original song a bunch, I can still kind of tell what the lyrics are; doesn't sound like gibberish to me.

On a side note, I just got back from his show in SF at the Warfield, an my head is still ringing. Fucking fantastic stuff, and I'm so glad he chose smaller venues for this tour. If he's coming to your town, go grab some tickets off of ebay, you wont be

Finally I've found the time to buy the new NIN , ...yeah what to say.
