Hey all!

Trying to get better at posting my work on the internet and thought showing my progress on a project I'm working on here would get the ball rolling as well as give me a great opportunity to get feedback on what I got. I'll be adding on a bit about the phases of the project (i.e. reference, blockout iterations, texturing, sculpting). After that, I'll post my final updates as I think I'm nearing the end for this one.

Stuff left to work on:
  • Grass, vine, and polylepsis foliage assets
  • Update sculpt on rocks
  • Lighting iterations
  • Assets for remaining ruin structures (the pillars/beacons)
Any critiques on anything is much appreciated! As well as any tips for the next steps mentioned too.

Hey! Great step to start posting online. It's a really good habit to have since you'll learn to communicate about your work, making nice screenshots (even the WIP ones!) and getting feedback :+1:

This is a great start so far!
Right now it could really help to flesh out your meshes and blockout so you can see how the scene will look in the end. I'm missing a sense of structure, logic and focus. Think about your main shot, your main camera. And really nail the composition from that view. Before you start going ham with sculpting, textures etc, get that figured out. It will help you tremendously later on and it will avoid you having to rework things as they may not work.

You could try a shot from the perspective of the character (green), as this will help us (the viewer) ground the scene because we could see us standing there. Great job on having a scale character in there!

I know it's wip but I'd like to see the pillars have more context and logic. Right now, they don't support the scene, rather distract from it.
Again, feel free to play around with composition and simple volumes first. The sculpting, textures etc can come later.

Once you share some updates, we can also take a closer look at lighting your scene to get that clear focal point. This will all depend on your composition though.

Great first update and kudos for posting! I'm enjoying the theme you're going for. Keep it up!
