Hello everyone, I'm making a new piece for my portfolio and I'll be posting here to show my progress and hopefully hold myself more accountable.
The concept is by Taras Kuznetsov

The goal of this project is too:
- have a full character from top to bottom with props, rendered inside UE 5
- add facial animations
- pose it with a slight idle animation ( possibly extend that to a walking animation)
- add an environment to ground the character
I still haven't decided if I'm going to use Metahuman or stick with a simple basemesh.
(It might be a better idea to start learning the Metahuman pipeline with a simpler piece, like just a portrait)
Take care

I used the Transpose Master to move around the proportions in a very broad way, not minding too much at this stage if the shapes gets deformed, it's just the blockout stage.
I look at the ratio between the colors. For instance, too much red, not enough brown -> the shirt is too long and the pants not long enough.
Also I like to sculpt in a some primary shapes on the face, to start giving the character some personality.
