Which direction should i move towards?

I like characters.
Currently i feel comfortable enough with the basics of zbrush, substance painter, cascadeur, less - blender, marvelous designer.

Problem is, i've been using character creator 4 as a base, purely for it's already rigged mesh, and it feels nice, goz it, sculpt, paint, goz back, i'm having lots of fun and started working on the short ue5 movie, which is going all right.

Recently i realized i have no idea how much sense in what i'm doing future wise and how useful any of these skills are.

Most fun i've had with animation, keyframe + mocap animation in cascadeur and face morphs sculpting, that's what i want to do.

How valuable any of those skills are? In which direction should i move with animation, is it mandatory to learn maya, get technical and create my own rigs if i want to get somewhere? I'm interested in gaming industry, cinematics, much less in movies and ultra realism.

I really rather not install maya.

so a technical character artist/rigger/face animator? I'm sure there's demand. Just need a portfolio and seek out the companies or clients you'd like to work for. What games do you like? What cinematics do you like? Find out who made them, match their performance then ask them if they need more hands
