Smoothing groups don't work in 3dsmax on meshes imported from zbrush??

Hi, I have this issue with smoothing out my mesh in 3dsmax after exporting from Zbrush. I retopo my mesh in Zbrush, import it into max and magically smoothing groups stop working. The only way to smooth out the mesh is to apply MeshSmooth. Is it just me? Can anyone confirm or provide a fix?

You're probably importing the normal data from the mesh, so the normals are probably locked.

You can reset them by using the collapse utility in the utilities panel, or with an edit normals modifier.

Or set your importer to import SG data only, not the normals

How high is your mesh and how is max(what version) handling it?

Just curious, i do it the other way so idk i never tried it this way so interested to know.

polish/crease before export to max? its a guess.
