How many days does it take to model a weapon in triple A game company?

Hello polycount! Since I have not worked in a company that made triple aaa games before, I would like to ask you a question that I am curious about. What is the average time given to a weapon artist at game companies to model a weapon? Anyone have any information?

Short question what is the average deadline? Thanks

"weapon" is pretty broad.... dagger or 6 barreled minigun with attached grenade launcher !

for something that's right in the player's face it could take months to complete and modelling is only a small part of that

this kind of thing is difficult to quantify... someone with 2 yrs of just doing this sort of things will usually have all the relevant techniques nailed down all the required assets at hand (stuff like recreating knurling on grips and knobs can tricky to get right even with experience), is going to need less time than a noob and hopefully a decent studio will know from experience how long it usually takes to get up to speed and won't expect miracles

If you want a general ballpark for man hours spent only on that one asset, probably a week to 2 months. Depending on the game, customization level, the detail level, etc.
