So I just installed Maya 2023 and I see a strange bug where some meshes are black on the top viewport. Just the top one.
This error would appear whenever I play around with the height baseline or whenever I simply move a mesh high enough.
I don't know what's wrong and also I don't know if it's an issue, but I will need the top view for this project.
Normal view everything working as expected.
I move it a bit higher and it just shows up black.
Anyone has any suggestions?
Thanks.

What is the scale of your asset? If this is a gigantic scale, you might be hitting precision or lighting limits. It's best to work within real-world scale.
So for example if this was a streetlight or electrical pole, it would be about 12 meters tall.
It's about 14 meters tall the mesh. The total Asset will be about 34 meters tall so it's not a lot to be hitting those limits.
Ok so that rules out that problem.
What happens when you make a sphere which is that large? Could just be an artifact of a single quad.
This happens xD
It's even weirder than I thought
Maya's orthographic camera's can go wonky sometimes. Try selecting the top camera in the outliner, then zero out the transforms. Then you can move the camera back up on the Y axis so it's above all your scene objects.
Maybe it's due to the clipping plane values of the camera? Could select camera and adjust the near clipping plane value, see if it changes anything.
Well, now it works properly, I did....nothing xD
Maya being Maya I suppose 😂
