OK this is gonna be a bit rough. But we have a new text editor for the forums.
This is supposed to fix some bugs. The forum software makers are not going to update the legacy text editor plugin we were using.
However it's going to introduce new bugs. :D
Bear with us, and let us know how it's going.

😉 Well the smileys seem to be functioning just fine Eric.

Aw man, not fond of these modern editors that much.🐛
Bugs-wise:
what that cat looking at ? also i do make a lot of
heremisspellingThe editor is supposedly a live preview itself. Though we'd need to style it properly, to make sure it matches the post
I'm working on darkening the formatting menus.
You can still drag-and-drop image files.
I'll ask Vanilla about Ctrl x.
OK, editor is a bit better now.
And emoji are green again. Though it's a hue rotate, so every emoji is a bit greener! 🍤
🎃 if you squint this pumpkin almost looks like a greentooth now
is it possible to adjust the brightness of the quote background ?
Dang, I'm too much of a CSS noob to figure it out. Anyone have any tips how to darken the quote box?
It would also be nice to get a bit of padding outside the bottom of the quote.
EDIT: also if I link something then press enter, it attempts to auto-embed the link which would be amazing if it did not give me this response upon trying to embed an artstation link:
---
Seems to be the .css-vuq4n1-collapsableContent class background. For the padding, some fiddling with the .css-b7he1o-embed-medium class padding might work, or-- actually it may be easier to add padding to .embedResponsive (but IDK if that might break the expected look of anything else)
Thanks for the copypaste fix, also! now I can do this if i choose to float to a side though -->
Thanks, did some more digging. Those classes are being overridden. I'll have a chat with Vanilla support.
I changed Quotes so they aren't so bright. Not as elegant as I'd like, but it'll do for now.
Alright, I think this hasn't busted anything.

A temp fix that looks like this:
For use with Stylus, or whatever else userstyles supports. Feel free to use as an example or template to edit to your preference. 👨🔧
Yeah, sorry tried those, but they're being overridden somehow. :(
I have a ticket in with Vanilla. We'll see if they bite.
Issues:
1. Adding a link to
polycount.com
without ahttp://
preface causes the link to fail with a message?www.artstation.com
= www.artstation.com = unsafe?http://polycount.com
= http://polycount.com = safepolycount.com
= polycount.com = unsafe?2. Image Float-Right causes the image to extend beyond the message box. But only after posting, not during editing?
3. Images have padding that can't be removed?
4. Can't style the white quote background?
5. Can't embed an image within an ordered list?
6. Can't quote an ordered list? (numbers added manually here)
Oh, yeah, I understood as much! But editing directly like this works on the user end so it's a workaround for right now for those who have bad eyesight & who already have some minor custom scripts here.
Here's hopin' Vanilla get back to you with answers/fixes! 🙂
So, just for giggles I looked at re-doing the CSS from scratch. Here's what the forum looks like with zero CSS overrides. Ewww.
Not sure if I want to go down this rabbit hole.
Fot some reason after reading the thread title, I though you had got a new text editor for christmas :)
(better than socks I suppose)
I did get some socks. They're nice!
yeah me too :)
The popup text formatting tool is nice but it seems like the option for changing the text size has been removed? (There were options like headline 1, headline 1, etc. which was useful for titling the sections of longer write ups.)
As far as bugs go: I may be doing something incorrectly but it looks like it's no longer possible to change the order of images by dragging them to a different line once they're uploaded. Only way to re-order images in a post seems to be re-uploading them one by one with the cursor on the correct line. Images also seem to have a dark overlay on them when composing a new post.
Currently using Firefox 95.0.2 (64bit). Not sure if that's part of these issues or not. Other than that no real complaints. Some of the changes do make it easier to format posts. Really like the floating edit tool that pops up when highlighting things.
actually for me it's great because my text used to be tiny in the browser as my montor res is really high, but it's fine now
@FrankPolygon on mobile, you can access the headline text formatting (H2,H3,etc.) via the backwards-P icon. On desktop it's an icon to the left of the text box, iirc.
Image formatting is definitely not great. Waiting for input from forum developers on bugs with image formatting.
Seems I can't add a return between two images in a post if I hadn't done it prior.
I would have to add a return prior to adding the next image in order to type between them. (I did that here).
