[xGen] Problem not enough hairs

Hello guys, how are you doing?
I am trying to create hair using xGen, following along some tutorials, and I think I am doing something wrong but I can't tell what. The issue is that when I create a plane, add guides and hit generate, I get very few individual hairs. If I crank the value up to 100 or above, I still get very few. What is the reason behind and how can I change that? Maybe the plane itself is too big?
I attach bellow some pictures of my settings, so that you can see what I am doing wrong.
