Re-done sling more closely to the original. But as I'm not very good at wood texturing, I've spent a lot of time today to make it and still don't know. Added some test writings
I dont know of any good tutorials for gun wood so i think thats the reason most gun wood parts look like desks But you're close to what it should look like, a bit too glossy i think.
So tired of making wood, will return later when I'll finish metal parts. Also done handle (and yeah, this is also wood) Cleaned up useless and old layers in all materials and continued making main material that will be shared with all other parts.
Day of tweaking stuff. Changed main metal material, added some things by hand and I think it's almost ready, also changed handle a bit. Stock wood is still waiting for its turn
It's almost done! Just tweaked all materials I had, especially wood - I believe it looks much more interesting. Tried to push render stage today but managed to make just one test render.
Might want to make the wood and the leather more different in color and saturation. For me, the leather is losing some of its material definition by looking like the wood.

Yeah, I think it's good point. I'll see what I can do
Last day. (almost) Tweaked some things on textures including changing wood to red tone.
Here's first renders (heavy images) :
Now I'll take one extra day to get some feedback from one artist at the company I work to fix some texturing if needed. But anyway, I've done this gun in the exact deadline that was set - 20 days.
The metal parts give the impression that the weapon has been used a lot while the wood parts only have minor damage. I would also recommend to separate some parts like the bolt for instance to make it pop out a bit more.

Okay, I didn't receive feedback yet but anyway I made new shots and thumbnail for Artstation and I'll post this work tomorrow or day after. Hope you'll like it!
Wish I'd the personal attributes too punch out an asset of this fidelity, in under 3 weeks
Also probably nit picking here but I recall from practical experience handling a similar military issued weapon in terms of wooden stock/butt and pistol grip (L1A1 SLR/AR 7.62 British version) will tend to show signs of wear, even factory war stocks in storage.

Thanks! I think I could push it under 2 weeks if I practiced more, didn't textured for about 2 months Yeah, I've added some wearing on stock and grip, it's not too much but I think that's enough to make worn look.
