Question about baking.

Hello, i have a project to make a scene and i have to keep my tris as low as possible. My main interest is a simple chain or a rope that i don't want to use many polys and i would like to bake my mesh on a plane. What workflow do you like for that? Where are you making the bake?

Any baker that bakes opacity/alpha . "Opacity mask from mesh" in Substance Designer for example. Also you could make your chain laying in flat plane and just render with whatever 3d soft you have using normal or whatever AOV you need and then map it to polygonal stripe

Maya does if you use a little trick.
You have to use a . PNG file as output. And use the same name for diffuse and alpha.
Maya will combine both.
