Braveheart - real time head and hair

Braveheart is one of my favorite movies ever so I decided to try and make William Wallace into a game ready character. 80 hours into it we're pretty much done with the head and hair. Starting next week we're gonna work on the body.

Really strong likeness, nice work. Can you elaborate on your process of getting the likeness at all? I've been toiling with several different ones myself.

There's not much that can be said about the process of doing a likeness. Get as many good references as you can, try to match the camera in zbrush with the one in the images, always check your model in a game environment(for real camera purposes). The fact is that you need to pay a ton of attention to the volumes when you're doing likeness. Any proportion off can make your character look completely different. Also be patient...it takes time. The head and hair took me more than 80h of work.

3ds max. If you click on my gumroad link from my signature I have a tutorial for my workflow. This hair stands around 120k tris.
