Realistic Stitching method?

Hello, I'm looking to create super high detailed stitching, like this image below:
What is the best way to do this? I have been playing around with the stiching filter on some of these substances: https://www.allegorithmic.com/blog/substance-source-automotive-materials-interior-1
Unfortunately I'm not getting the detail I want. Any expert help? I'm fairly new to substance

Eg. Make the thread, the holes etc. As a height map and use something like a tile sampler to place them.

The only genuinely difficult bit to produce in your reference image would be dynamic placement of the stitches driven by input maps.
It highlights that the combination of height map and stitching model works well. I'm going to give this a shot and try and create a realistic stitch. Regarding the dynamic placement, I may have to follow along a curve, perhaps do the same with a tiling height model and then bake
