Inspired by this amazing spin on Luna Lovegood:

The prop elements need some love especially the scarf which is proving to be a pain given how little of it I can see.

The held items will get more attention once I have her posed and in situ.

Getting frustrated with missing the mark on the face so I took it into photoshop and hammered it into the style of likeness I want. Will use this as an overlay for my sculpt to mould it into place and we should be good to go with a few minor tweaks.

Huge improvements on the face so far. I like the direction it's going. The one huge clump of hair on the side of her face, coming out from the scarf is a little visually confusing. Might want to break that up a bit in the front.

And watch out for nargles.

Thanks for the feedback. I totally agree about the hair. I think I was too in love with the silhouette in the side view to think about how it actually made sense as a whole.

Spent some time reworking the face. In a place now where I feel like Im happy with the style and the big shapes. Quickly pushed the existing hair into a place that made more sense and looked more like the way she actually wear her hair. Some clipping issues with the glasses which are an easy fix.

Working up the scarf forms and adjusting the clothing underneath to fit alongside it. Reworking the hair to marry with the new face and head shape as well as to accomodate the the thicker scarf design.

The tassles are super fun to do. Masking by polygroups and using the move tool lets you add lots of randomness and variation.

Got her preliminary pose up, trying to work all the other elements around her new positioning. Will have to do some clothing work on the cardigan where the arms bend.

Spellbook graphic I rustled up. Think I'll use this alpha in the normal map proper. Sculpting into the geometry looks pretty dirty even at higher subdivs.

Hey, in comparison to the concept her hands look big and legs look short - are you trying to match proportions there? I feel like some elements are working super well (hair, scarf) but the base proportions give it a completely different feel. What if you compare the amount of heads high she is in your version vs the concept?

Hey thanks for the comment.

Your observations are spot on, but I'm really not worried about staying super faithful to concept. I was more inspired by the overall design than the specifics of her proportions and what not.

When I first started I was coming at it from the POV of creating a character for an imaginary new animated series with a more adult tone. So I became a bit more experimental with the style.

I think I'm finally happy with the patronus design. All elements are essentially in place and, with one or two more wholesale passes to sharpen everything up ( The scarf especially needs work ) I'll be ready to get her ready for real-time.

My sculpt is pretty much done. Just running the brush over the piece as a whole now. Everything is topod and UVd so now start the baking and texturing process.
