character neck seam

hi, i have a problem with my character
i use blendshape for my character expression, which mean i have to separate my model head and body,
but how i can make my neck seam invisible??
many people are suggesting hide it inside a cloth
but how can i hide it if my character doesn't use a cloth

and how kratos from god of war can hide their neck seam?

If you baked from a seamless hires mesh, it should be seamless. You will probably have to match mesh normals as well where the neck meets the body. It should be pretty straight forward though. I always separate the head from the body and never get a seam.

so, when i sculp the hires, the head and the body must be in one mesh??
after bake the map, separate the head and body

but if i want to create blendshape and wrinkle map in zbrush,

if i sculp expression from my separated low res head, i can get the expression, but i can't make a wrinkle map without hiress head right??

Before even dealing with the highres bake issue, you first and foremost need to make sure that your vertex normals are edited (either averaged on both sides, or edited on one side to match the other) so that the seam is, well, seamless.

The way to do it varies depending on which 3d program you are using, but basically you need to make sure that you can get something like this:

This is really nothing new. Just mention which 3d program you are using, and people here will be able to help you achive it.

@myclay Sure thing - A way to do it would be to grab all the normals from a merged copy of the two objects. A few permutations are possible : either running the operations on separated models for head and body (thus maintaining vertex order), or, merging the head and body together, running the operations, and then splitting (which would modify the vertex order of the original models, hence not an acceptable practice in some cases)

(little fluke near the end as I forgot to set the smoothing to 180 which confused me for a second)

Other 3d programs allow to edit just a specific selection of normals, but I don't think that this is possible in Blender.

Here's how to do it in Max. You need to do this before projecting textures.

Hello @pior thank you very much for the clips.
after looking around, the Blend4Web Normal Editor appeared, maybe that addon is the right solution
for editing a specific selection of normals?

Not sure about Maya but in Max it is actually more efficient(scene/filesizes -wise) to not separate head and body and reattach when doing morph targets.

Can you explain better for render with a head and a body? the video for blender user is a little fast... specially to solve seams in the neck
