[Riot 2017 Art Contest] Noxus-demacia war

I already started this piece a few weeks prior to the contest release, but because i was only at the beginning stages of rough sketches, I decided to wait for contest to begin before I continue; so I just took a week break

Here is composition. everything is still circles and squiggly lines.

A really really big and difficult piece , i suggest to you to pick a focus point of the peace , it's very promising but could happen to be really dispersive keep going it amazing

haha yes, my focus point is going to be jarvan and darius in the center

Hey Chewie, this is pretty cool! The thing that stands out most to me right now is the ax. Since Darius and J4 are the center of the piece you'll want a clean line of action that draws attention to them. The blade is too close to Darius's body and making his silhouette a bit thick.

The ax also feels a little too flat by aiming towards us, if you rotate it away so the head moves right and the handle moves left it will add some depth. Hopefully that makes sense! Thinking about the momentum of the swing- the further his hands are down on the handle the more leverage he'll get and the more powerful it will look. Keep it up!

Only tip I can offer is to make sure not everything is treated with the same level of detail/rendering so it doesn't look too busy! Other than it's looking fantastic and I can't wait to see more!

haha thanks! Ill lessen the details for them once I finish painting it in. I can always reduce details later

Yeah but when i say compisiton i also mean light composition.
You are treating everything like if it is in a diffuse light, infact the eyes do not have a good grasp on the center of you piece instead they start wondering around the piece, that the tips i was tryng to say to you and it is the main weakness of the artwork from what i can see now (the artwork is not finished of coursee). Sometimes rendering each stuff by themselves can really drive you in some weird point were you are stuck ,or render a thing and spend a lot of time/energy and after you understand that the thing you've done weren't so important for the piece sake.

oh, yes I get what you mean XD I always add lightings last. I usually draw everything as if it's a diffused layer and hide it with lights in the end. as long as highlight comes out accurate, it shouldnt cause too much of an issue. as far as lighting goes, Lux's laser will be the main source of light in the composition since it'll be such a strong source.

I got alot of comments regarding Lux and quinn. Jarvan's pose and angle was really bothering me, so I spent a whole day fixing them. I also drew in Sion and swain in the back. I rearranged all characters and fixed the composition to make it less chaotic.

I love this, watching it come together bit by bit is pretty awesome. I have one issue though - other than J4s terrible aim =p - Lux and Quinn are in nearly identical poses so I keep looking back to the two of them instead of the rest of the picture.

oh, thanks for pointing this out. yes, I agree their pose are too similar. ill see what i can do to fix

finish! I love league of legends, and I wanted to challenge how far I've come since the last fanart contest back in 2014. I had alot of fun making this and learned alot during. I may come back to do some small polishing up, but nothing significant
