Hey! Welcome to my ventures!

I'll start with my current project (you can find my old ones in my history, if you're interested!) a one man space freighter. And this is the cockpit/living area.

Since I'm late into showing the project, I'll just post the progress-shots I took while making it, some don't make sense, some are just badly cropped and some are just plain weird. I'm open for suggestions, ideas and critiques!

So in the beginnings (mid July this year) I was planning out a different type of layout with corridors and some other things. I never used it except for scale and lightmass practice.

Eventually I moved onto the actual cockpit, blocking out the windows and the console.

Now at this stage I probably had gone over a few iterations of scale and type of windows, but this one stuck with me (and I had to keep moving forward). So I started detailing the console and giving the windows some depth and more definition. I also wanted something to frame in the cockpit, so I made a few "computer" cabins of some sort.

At this stage I wanted to get a feel of lighting and contrast, so I just added a directional light and a omni in max's viewport and started playing around a bit, so I could get a feel of what I wanted to achieve in UE4.

At first I had planned a direct entrance to this part, form the corridor seen in the first post, but I felt that I want to restrict the project a bit more and force myself to keep things a bit less....to big. This resulted in blocking out a living area just behind the cockpit. With a kitchen and bed section. Everything still in 3dsmax and high polies.

I pretty much was satisfied with the amount of geometry I was able to conjure before starting to low poly and get things into UE4. Below are a few iterations of the cockpit area in UE4

I also started creating a skybox, as I needed to figure out more of the composition and placement of it. So a made a planet with a green atmosphere, which oddly reminded me of the old Quake Wars game, probably a sublime message to myself.

Even though I liked the green atmosphere, it was a bit evil, so I made it blue while working a bit more on the bed and kitchen area. That space suit probably won't end up being there, but I was just fiddling around with some stuff.

And this is how far I've come for now, I'm going over a detail pass for everything. Not liking the bed area walls and window placement at the moment, but those are prone to change and are open to suggestions. I'm still trying to figure out how I should light the kitchen.

To much emissive light from the planet.

Begun working on textures and the console. Added a door to the cockpit. Got some leaking light here and there apparently.

Oh cool. Getting a very star trek vibe from this. Quesiton; Howd you do that globehologram on the dashboard? I"m trying to do a similar thing for a robot i'm working on.
