Putting textures onto a model questions.

Hello, everyone. I am new to 3D models as a whole so please bear with me while i ask these questions. I ripped a file from a folder named "models" and it gave me two .png images. One with what looks like the texture, and a gray image that has a gray 3D look to it. I'm leaving an attachment to better explain what i mean. So my question is if i can put the texture on top of the gray model, and not have the gray background behind it, also if its possible to render it as a new image. Apologies if this sounds stupid. I honestly don't think a .png can be viewed as a 3D model but i have to ask to make sure

I think this "grey" map is something like a bump map.

I did a reverse image search to see where you got this image from, it's from a visual novel which seems to be an entirely 2D game. So there's no 3D at all, unless I'm mistaken from a cursory glance.

No, a PNG file cannot be viewed as if it were a 3D model. You can put this image on a "plane" in 3D space and that would be the model, but it would still be a 2D cutout in 3D space. The grey PNG looks like it was made for rimlight/highlights on the character in certain environments, you will need to write the specific shader implementation for that, but you might be able to hack something together in Maya's hypershade for example.

i just need the image without the blackaround it, without doing so manually without a photo editing software. Its not that im lazy or anything but the sprite itself has a black outline too, so saying to do it manually is hard, is a big understatement. Trust me, I've tried. Obviously, in the game i refer to, there is no black around the character at all, so that leads me to believe there has to be some way to remove it.

Many people have tried this before, and just to show you what i mean ill link a attachment. It looks unofficial. Here's a compairison between official and manually edited.

Since none of the image you linked have any transparency channel, that simply means that you haven't ripped the proper source file containing the transparency data (or, it could be that the game uses another means altogether to cut out the characters, like a vector mask, but that's very unlikely).

The second picture with the grey tone and red/blue edges is very likely used by the game to add rim lighting to the sprite.

At the end of the day you have two solutions :

1 - Find the proper file to rip to get access to transparency.

2 - Create the cutout yourself.

Once you have 1 or 2, then you'll be able to do all kind of stuff with these images, like placing the characters on 3d billboards or inserting them into other pictures in 2d.
