first time posting here , lately im pushing to improve my character art skills so im going to be adding my current works and hopefully ill get some critiques...

Ill start with this one:

did a quick base mesh and started to work the clothing on top of that, im going for semi /realistic look

ill try to update as soon as i get some progress

Really like the initial design, The color pallete looks really good, gives an imperial feel. Do you plan to add more minor details into the 3d model? The concept seems to show only the overall larger shapes and colours.

Yes Sueng Hoon made some great work with the concept and yes i was thinking of adding some shirt buttons, minor gold accents on the clothing and maybe design a fancy sword (because i feel like she can use one haha) plus the base of the character later on for presentation purpouses

More progress on this...
- worked on the nose and lips, ears are still missing atm (i dont wanna make them haha) updated the proportions on the head just a bit
-second pass on the chest area
-second pass on the pants made some wrinkle detailing (still needs work)
welp still lots to do

The highpoly is looking good and clean but some areas of the clothes feel a bit unfinished. You could try and sculpt in more seams, stitches and puckering around all edges of leather, as well as buttons and wear and tear effects. The wrinkles you already have are looking great!

YES can definitely agree, i didn't quite understood this before when i started doing this project but after seeing other refs i feel like some of the smaller details are what really brings a sculpt to life, my plan is to model some buttons and solve the sitches of the leather directly on substance this time.
but im going to keep this in mind for the next models, thank you very much for the feedback

Meh im just gonna skip the boring stuff, here is an update on the textures, still lots to do tho black areas need to be worked, skin is just the base color atm, hair is missing too but oh well at least is some progress.

Finished the last details of the textures and fixed the lightning and presentation i think i can sleep now x_x

Well its time to get back at it, i've been working on this korra fan art from the awesome redesign done by Den Rodichev

this is my progress so far still lots of things to refine, hands are still very wip, pants need more detailing, the head is not finished yet, in general all the belts and clothes will need some polishing and detailing.
(FUR = FUN RIGHT?)

Awe yessh the first model was awesome, and the Kora redesign is looking really cool!! Are you planning on modeling the fur or perhaps making it with fibers? With stylized work I'm always torn between the two.

Hey thank you man! and regarding the fur, usually if i'm sculpting the hair i will probably sculpt the fur too in order to maintain consistency in the model same goes with fibers, but i think you can always break the 'rule ' if you manage to make it good looking

Just an update for this model, been working on the clothes.. did and redid and redid the fur going to move on and polish the hair and whatever is left to do

Awesome style on this Korra concept. I feel like its a cross between Mei from Overwatch and Korra from Avatar. The stylized fur is nice. Did you use the next Zbrush 4R8 or did you just insert mesh or sculpt them? I feel like the eyes and face might be able to be improved alittle bit. Looks really good though. But then again I am not really a character artist.

This is an incredible sculpt! The only thing that bothers me a little bit is the belt. It angles upward, but the weight of the pouch would weigh it down in the opposite direction. Unless the pouch section is attached to the pants at the hip, the only way it could stay up there is if it was secured with second strap around her waist. This is a nitpicky realism thing that might not apply to the style of the sculpt, but I think it messes with the sense of weight.
Excellent work, though! I hope I can achieve this level of skill myself someday.

ZeroStrike no zbrush 4r8 for this one, for the fur it was mostly deformed spheres modified to look like strands of hair merged together and sculpted on top of that, and yes i agree with you i still need to improve a lot on the faces! that is and area that i still find difficult to achieve haha, thank you for the feedback

haha you are right the weights are in the opposite directions, i'll keep this in mind from now on, in the end, the good things are all in the details right? and for sure you can do it too, lots of practice and there are many people who gives good feedback in the forums you can ask them or me its a faster way to improve

MitchNew It was done manually, from a sphere made into a strand shape, duplicate them place them together, do dynamesh + zremesher and polish with trim dynammic all in zbrush, at this point i might as well do a tutorial just for the fur since a lot ( a LOT) of people have asked me this haha
pmiller001 its nice to know that

the orange one its just a map that stores roughness and metalness on the R,B channels for easier management,(at least for me),i prefer this instead of having to deal with a lot of different files to work; its just get annoying after a while
