Hello all,

Polycount is currently working with BetaCon Game Expo, which is happening in Portland, Oregon next month. This is a general public event, not a professional developer event. This is aiming for the same sort of audience as PAX or a ComicCon rather than a GDC or E3 style event.

We are currently planning on having a booth with a couple of artists live sketching on Cintiq's with TV screens behind them with a clone of the display in a booth next to the Wacom folks. They are HQed in Portland and will be providing us with the tech to do this properly. This is all a work in progress and we can only share so much publically at this point.

We hope to have a pool of artists; a dozen or so, to work with us for this. We'll work out shifts based on how many artists we secure for this. We hope everyone can spend some time enjoying the convention as well sketching and talking to the public. Photoshop and Zbrush are currently on our list of tools to have available; potentially could have more if you needed something else.

The 2nd part of the event will be a live art duel amongst the artists. We'll have two Cintiqs on a stage and have timed sessions with random topics for the artists. The audience will vote on which they like best at each point. Probably set up a bracket and run the duels across both days of the event. There is some potential talk of sponsored prizes for this event as well. No exact details as we are still working it all out.

To make this happen; we are looking for some local NorthWest artists who would like to participate in this venture with us. This is a volunteer event, no one is getting paid, not even us. But we are looking to have transportation and hotel covered. We can get you there and make sure you have a place to stay.  Our contact for this is our senior admin Jesse "Skanker" Sosa. He's doing the artist wrangling for us on this and he would love to talk to you about it if you think you'd like to participate.

Cheers!
