Searched something sharp and shiny for a ref and found this one. It's gorgeous. Also I found an interesting blog with work in progress, blueprints and tons of nice photos. Actually it's tech porn. Feel free to grab something for your contest models, there is enough for all of us

Maybe someone knows how to find or draw this tricky wooden texture? Dont want to use something mediocre.

I think you could do it easily with a few nodes in Substance Designer, but if you don't have it, you can try Photoshop: Render Clouds - Posterize - Find Edges, then use some Distort filters to warp the lines and Shape blurs to add variation in thickness.

I think everythig is fine except few artifacts. Maybe I'll remake lowpoly to increase grid density a little bit next time. Anyway I like this baker tool. Only one request, please make confirmation on starting new project. Few times missclicked and ruined everything.

Well this MtId baking system is frustating for me or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Anyway I finally did it by exploding entire high poly into pieces, cause it looks like this tool doesn't work with 3dsmax MtlIDs, and in the end I got 35 high poly meshes and 15 low poly meshes for baking.

Looking at your reference material, it looks like you only need two materials. I can see a few areas you might want to separate your projections but i'm not seeing more than a handful of groups. If you want, email me your max file and I will email you back and overview of how I would set it up.

I tried to separate everything. In the end i got 4 materials: metal polished, metal brushed, anisotropic for screw bolt endings and wood.
I had some issues with cavity map, solved it by increasing high poly grid density to 25mil.

And finally everything is done.
