I went through the entire first part of the thread thinking that these were all 3D characters you were working on. And now I'm even more blown away. The designs are so unique and beautiful. I haven't seen anything like this, I love it! I wish I was a character artist so I could make some of your concepts. Nice work!
Just wanted to say to everyone thanks so much for all the comments and feedback! Going forward I might try to start showing more of the process (vids, zbrush sculpts, texture maps) and hopefully I'll get the time to start making some walk through videos soon
Wanted to show some of the process of making these Critters if anyone has any questions on knowing more feel free to ask!
There are 3 other videos on my Youtube channel that go very in depth on how I work. While I think the design and final image of the creature bust isn't very good IMO the stuff I say during the vids are the same principles I follow. https://youtu.be/1WqsPfcl2w0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEyNND-OJII
The alien creatures look awesome man! I like the 'fractal' elements.
Not a big fan of the Dog/wolve creatures though. Cause of the lack of the fur cards on the entire creature, it looks like it is losing its fur. Just doesnt blend in well enough imo. Have you considered investing in Neofur?
Yeah the techniques I'm using for fur are based off last gen/ high optimization. That and at this time I need to shop around for a good fur card painting system cause right now I'm just laying in cards by hand. I'll see if I can tap into neofur sometime soon.
Man all these are fantastic! Allot of them are akin to gallery abstract art, but where the artist is actually talented and has real skills! Nice work, very inspiring sketch book!
Hey man all of these are amazing, and your progress from the first one to now is really good. Personally I prefer your very alien stuff, but seeing your interpretation on the griffin makes me really wish you made a dragon or werewolf/other mystical creature. As that interpretation is really cool and interesting.

You can always try the 'Shadow of the Colossus' fur technique. Using multiple pushed shells.
