AKM - Game Ready - Final

Here's my work so far on my AKM. I decided to over model so I could create the best shapes and silhouettes. Additionally I worked on some the interior that the player might see. So far I'm about 20 hours into this and will be baking in Substance painter 2 after I UV. Any critiques or insight would be appreciated. Thanks for checking out My AK74. Well, apart from the fact it's mirrored, it's also a mixture of ak, akm and ak74. The most noticeable part is the akm gas block and the redundant pinning of gas block and front sight. The most obvious problem to address is changing the gas block to AK74 and remove the top set of pins.

It's also currently a semi-auto version, as the auto sear pin is missing (just in front and below the hammer pin). You're also missing the left side of the selector arm (which would be on the right side in your case).

Apart from that, it's not bad.

I'll update soon, but I've determined that this is indeed a AKM with Bakelite furniture and an AK74 style muzzle break. I'll be fixing accordingly! Thanks for the feed back!

Edit: I think I will add a side mount!

Ill look into that, thanks for the heads up! do you notice it in specific areas or just over all? I also looked at your AKM model (Fantastic) but you have quite a few hard edges how were you able to pull that off on the low poly normal? Thanks!

Zbrush has polish feature what can smooth everything. So you just do "realistic" version of that then you use that. :chuffed:
Did you check my artstation or polycount page?

Your Art Station, Ah I haven't been in zbrush yet, taking classes on it in 3 weeks, hmm im sure i can just bevel and merge some edge loops in the hardest edged areas.

It actually looks more like a fixed stock Romanian AK74 clone (front sight is typically Romanian).

See this is why I get so confused! well the ref photo I have looks just like the one there, but the AKM also can take a 7.62 74 style muzzle break. I'll post my main ref in the next batch of pictures!

Tired, I need to path the spring out to make it look like it has tension but never the less! I hope you Enjoy, I cant wait to get to the Low poly and get this sucker in game.

I modeled the big interior concepts such as the trigger mechanisms because I'm working on having a version that has no dust cover in game :proud:

AK47 Need to fix some edge hardness. Maps are on 2048x2048 single. Low poly is 15k triangles! Finally got some more time to work on this between semesters

Fixed up the normal map more and I have begun to texture in substance. I'm following a few different tutorials right now, especially the Chamfer zone website tutorials. If any one has any input on substance and texture please post!!! Thank you Gals and Guys!

I have fixed more normal errors and cleaned up Uv's and edge hardness more, in addition I have also invested in NDO and did some engravings! I'm enjoying the results!
