max fore arm rig issues

hey , I ve made a fore arm twist using wire params in max, but i keep getting an illegal reference. Any one here familar with this stuff? Tried in the tech forums but no replies. I ll post more details if some one thinks they can help

It's been a while since I've used Max. It sounds like you're trying to connect the rotate from the wrist to it's parent joint. I don't know how you've set up your bones, but make sure the wrist isn't a child to it.

the hand is a child of the forearm, and the twist bone is also a child of the forearm, the illegeal action happens when you rotate one of the finger bones, a child of the hand bone

If it's bending the fingers thats causing the error, why do you think the twist bones of the forearm are at fault?

cause when i move the finger the exposed transform on the hand bone breaks, and that is wired into the twist bone. But I see what you re saying. My goal is a twist bone set up but really its the expose transform thats breaking as a result
