  I'm not a fan of books any more as website and tutorials made by artists are generally much better imo. I'd highly recommend the site above which has a great series starting with the basics.

  Andrew Loomis books are very known worldwide, they are really good even if you haven't draw in your life. Another good one is Draw on the Right Side of the Brain it's the first book that actually introduced me to the mindset of someone who draws.
