How do i make this follow a cylinder shape?

I've never had to deal with this problem but i'm using Maya and i want this to follow a cylinder shape.
I've seen people do it, just never asked how.

Non-linear bend deformer, I would subdivide it before bending it or there won't be enough geometry for it to hold it's shape.

Thank you, Also. I'm assuming this doesn't work with smooth preview then since it requires physical geometry?

Yeah it can be a problem if it's part of a larger object and you can't smooth before bending. From top to bottom, lowpoly deformed, deformed then smoothed, smoothed then deformed.
