  what software are you using? Your question is pretty vague. You need an alpha mask which is just a greyscale mask where white is shown and black is invisible. For a feather you'll want to use alpha blend so it should have different gradations of grey.

  what software are you rendering in? Zbrush?

  Marmoset toolbag 2 .... alright so should I match that feather with the plane's uvs and then make a black and white version using photo shop and use it as a transparency map ?

  Yeah that's basically it. Though if you want to optimise it you'd probably want to add a bit of geo to minimise overdraw.
