I know many here dislike the engine. I completely understand. Still as an old CryEngine fanboy I am happy :D

Finally a Cryengine changelog that's almost on par with an Unreal Engine changelog. Given the relative maturity of this iteration of the engine, it's not a bad update. The glass shader is improved, vegetation has specularity, TXAA is improved, they use BC5s compression for normal maps now, and they've implemented SSDO which really helps bring out small details in global illumination compared to the previous cubemap-based approach. Lots of nice goodies for rendering nerds such as myself 8)

Looks like they're incorporating a lot of the tech from Ryse into the public engine finally, that's probably why the change log is so big.

Hmmmm, unless I'm blind, still no love for large terrains I see. I wish to god that Rockstar would release the Rage Engine to the community. Have been extremely impressed with the performance of GTA V on PC. It's ticked all the boxes: Large Terrains, Day & Night Cycles, Ocean Shader to die for (read: Shader Porn), Physics... yadda yadda yadda - you name it!

Sadly, it's just the kid looking through the candy store window.

In the mean time, UE4 v4.8 will have to do.
