Need architectural modeling tips

I need some scale units tips for architectural modeling, using Maya. I have
the units set to centimeters, but how do I know that Im modeling in the right
scale, so a human-character can walk in the building? The building Im about to model is about 5 meters tall.

Hope anyone have some tips to share

Hey no biggy mate, the thing is you get to have meters and centimeters side by side for comparison which is a great timesaver.

I may have other stuff for architecture, i will think about it later this weekend.

I always add several human-characters to a map to help visualize the scale.

Another question:
Is it best to have seperate meshes for windows, or selecting faces and extrude?
Im going to apply glassmaterials from UnrealEngine.

Everything could stand in one big static mesh and you could use appropriate color chanels for the glassmaterial in the UnrealEngine i believe.

It really depends what your goal is. If you want flexibility or your scene is going to be large then a modular workflow wins hands down but if it's a one off or smaller scene then what peanut has said would be an easier way to go, just model all your buildings as one static mesh.

You can always add an extra material for your glass for both modular & and a large static mesh.
