Hey everyone!,

Edit : Just realized I don't know how to spell dalmatians.... (silly title!)

I'll start off with a quick intro; I'm a student interested in environment and prop modeling. I came across a beautiful demo reel by Leticia Reinaldo. (check out http://www.leticiareinaldo.com/ if you want to see it) She Modeled Roger from 101 Dalmatians. Instantly I fell in love with it, and wanted to do the same. So I started the rest of the room.

Critiques, Advice, Tips, Tricks, etc. all appreciated!

Oh this is pretty =w= Are you going to gave it a painterly style like disney or are you going to do it super realistic ?

I love the movie, so hopefully I can do it justice.

I plan on hand painting the textures. Something similar to the Meet Buck short. I love the strong confident brush strokes.

Also, on top of critiques etc. other style suggestions would be great.

Fun fact, there were a lot of Disney employees who were layed-off when this film was being developed and the studio was saved by the magic/cheapness of xerox. The original sketches were never cleaned-up and instead scanned right in and painted over. This eliminated the need for the usually ink artists.

It would be cool if you could find a way to overlay your models with some form of alpha layer to give it that "sketchy" look. Just a thought, cool idea for a project by the way!

Thanks Jhoythottle, I'm loving it - sadly, schoolwork is slowing me down a little.

I'm having a lot of trouble with the shirt on the chair. I'm using Ncloth to drop it, but I cant get it to look right. I think partially the way it's drawn in movie makes the dimensions a little impossible, but even getting it to where it is now has taken me many many many tries. If anyone has advice I would love it!

How are you with zbrush? I would recommend sculpting that bad boy.

Weak, to be honest. I'm comfortable navigating the program and tools, but I feel like my sculpting skills and precision need improvement. I think I'll take the chair, top pillow and a blocked out shirt into Zbrush and see if I can get something that looks halfway decent.

Plus that chair looks like it could use a face lift, maybe some wrinkles/bunching of the fabric etc.

I would love some help, if anyone knows the solution. I'm having an issue with this scene (sorry if this is an easy fix, and I'm not seeing the obvious reason for it) Anyways, if you look closly at the wall on the right, the picture frame on the right wall as well as the pipes and the bookcase hidden behind the lamp, there are bright pixels (fireflys?? and despite jacking up render settings I cant get them to go away. I've been able to narrow it down to some issue between the lamp light, the 2sided material on the lamp and or the material on the walls? any help in debunking this would be amazing!!!
