I modeled this over the holidays. Its a product of my being bored. I still have to tweak a few things on the hipoly, and maybe add a scope or something silly
Is nice. I just dont like the way the grip tapers at the back. I know that is how it looks on the actual gun, but i dunno, I think it would look better if the back of the grip was the same width all the way down, you know, like in any other gun. feels awkward the way they made this. But that's the besides the point. Nice modeling and presentation
@Pedro - haha yea i agree. I've never held or fired one, but I can't imagine it being comfortable. Then again, the whole gun is sorta weird and silly in terms of design
I just did that the simplest way - I created a plane, evenly divided it with segments, extruded, beveled and then used bend modifier to wrap it cylindrically, then I just fit it over top of the handle
@Joost - I found variants of the gun with and without that part as well as other areas that slightly change, I decided to keep it as it makes that area look a bit more interesting IMO
With the denseness son. I hope less geometry was involved arriving up to that point.
Looking cool though! My biggest complaint is the ass of the gun is pretty boring IMO. Arguably the most important part of a first person weapon. I'd give a little redesign to that area. Maybe run a charging handle on the left/ride side and have the bolt run out the back or somethin. .02
Looking forward to seeing how it develops.
Edit: The muzzle could be thicker as well in my opinion. Right now it's very thin. Typically they have a bit of meat to them (Search 'Muzzle Brake')
Very nice gun, i like it. But i do agree with s6, the rear could use a few more details to make it more interesting.
Aside from that, i just spotted what i think is just a double vertex, easy fix though.
Good job!
If the topo is manageable, and works, who cares. Scope looks great man! That topo boggles my mind though lol.
It does feel like the scope is backwards though. I think it would look better if the rear lens had a hood to protect against dirt/glare. It seems like the player would be looking through the wrong end atm.
hehe. One thing I learned real fast when I got my first industry job is its a waste of production time making a pretty hires wireframe, as long as it works as it should and doesn't make the lowpoly process a living hell, it doesn't matter (within reason). Needless to say I got pretty sloppy this time lols
I do see your point on the scope arrangement, this scope however is based off a Konus series scope, which is set up just as I have it
Excelent work. But your images are so compressed. Not sure if it's straight out of keyshot or if it's compressing from your host? Looks bad when i maximize them :S
Liking it otherwise but the mag looks awfully busy. I'd simplify that a lot and mostly focus details/wear/dust/grease/whatever on edges/crevices instead of all the surfaces. Keep it up!

@Kaine123 - I used a 3ds max script for the welding. Check it out - http://jokermartini.com/welder/

How did you go about adding the grip dot things around the cylinder piece above the barrel?

@ghazteh - It is not floating geo, those details are modeled into the mesh. My renders are done in Keyshot. Here are old WIP wires

I'll probably go back and tweak a few things following some feedback I got. But yea, onto the next!
