Contour Perfit.....i've been using this mouse for years and love it for 3d work. it has 3 real buttons and you purchase one based on the size of your hand for a perfect fit. takes a little getting used to you and you'll probably get odd comments from co-workers, but i wouldn't use anything else for 3d work
interesting that this thread resurfaced. for Christmas this year I got a trackball and I'm really digging it. I've been using it for everything, 3d work and some fps games.
I got the g500s for work and I love it. The extra button on the side is actually quite useful. I set it to remove edge for 3ds max. The ergonomics are great, I don't like using my Razer mamba at home any more.
This! They don't manufacture them and its one of the few PC peripherals actually getting more expensive as years pass as the demand is still there. Have had mine for 7 or so years. Still going strong as ever.
3 or so years ago it was about 50£, now 145£. I'd say its a decent investment unless they start producing them again.
My wife got a bright red Mad Catz Rat 9 (on sale -50%) couple months ago. It looks amazing and I love how much customization you can do. Especially the fact you can change the width and add new bits to hold all fingers (you can rest whole palm on the thing). Also the amount of programmable buttons, second scroll wheel is great.
But after using it for couple of weeks she found the LMB started squeaking when you press it. Its all aluminium build and for some reason it sometimes squeaks. Its gone now but it was frustrating for a bit.

How long did it take to get used to a trackball? I'm looking at that thing and having doubts.
I got pretty comfortable with it in about a week. now it feels a little weird using a regular mouse lol.
the only issues i have w the model i linked to is the buttons are a little flimsy. and its hard to hold down left and right while aiming in shooters that use ironsights, but i think ill adjust to that with some practice
I got this mouse for 10$ on amazon. It saved my hand, I feel obligated to recommend it to anyone who wants to switch up their hand position. I got used to it in about 30 min.
