Bus Stop Environment (Practice Project)

This is a a project that I'm doing just to stay more active with my modeling and I would love help on what I should put in here. I also have no idea how to make the wireframe show up. I am using Maya 2015 so if anybody could help me that would be awesome.:)

Are you rendering this with physical sun and sky? It makes it hard to even see what is in your scene. what does it look like with just the maya software render?

Well what you see is all I have but I can render it with maya not mental ray if that is what you are asking for. So far this is it.

This is my newest update on my bustop scene. Please give me idea's and comments. And I would also love to know how to render the wireframe in Maya 2015.

BTW I'm kinda new to modeling so any tips on using Maya 2015 or Maya in general?

Turn your stop sign so that the top is a flat side,rather then a point. like a stop sign in real life

Well a trash can in a public environment is way more bigger, yours look like an office one, wind could blow it in 2 sec. I would do something like that and outside the bus stop.

If you want to push it further, i would drop the stop sign to do a traffic light like that http://www.keltron.org/images/trafic_01.jpg

I tried that method and it didn't work. I am using 2015 not 14 so I'm not quite sure if that makes a huge difference but I will keep looking.

Some of those a kind of complicated for me but I will try. Remember I am 15 and have been self taught so I don't know most of the tricks.

I finally figured out the whole contour rendering and it looks cool but I does look a little strange since some I've soften and some I haven't. The lamp pole isn't actually that high-poly, it just looks like that for some reason. I am still playing around with the lighting and trying to figure out how I want it. I am loving these comments and opinions. Please keep them coming!

Maybe re-thinking of the place of your trash can, because for me it looks like it is in the middle of the sidewalk. And are you thinking of adding a shield with bus routes and such, cause this will fit perfectly into your scene. Some newspaper on the bench or a even an house entry in the background will make your scene really good

Thanks Soldier! I have been on a vacation for a while but I will get on that. Also the trash can is next to the sidewalk. Still trying to find a good place for it.

It turns out I will not be able to finish this project. I did some re-configuring of my PC and I didn't make a backup of things on my desktop

. Sorry guys but I don't think I'll be modeling for a while after this

Do not give up! Losing files and saves is a normal occurrence for a newer modeler.

Turn this into a learning experience and remember to back up not once but twice! When I work on something I always have a back-up but often I have a back-up for that back-up.

Move on to something new, try another scene or perhaps just one small prop.

Hey buddy, don't give up. Along with learning a lesson about backing up files, consider the fact that you also learned something from modelling these assets. It wasn't a waste of time.

Start another thread for a new project and work from there. Maybe you can go through a couple of tutorial videos to get you back in the mood.
